Here are a whole slew of links for the websites of my friends, peers and other useful and/or interesting sites scattered around the web. Check 'em out!
These are some of my "regular" (non-Comics) friends who also have websites. And don't think just because they are "regular" they aren't TOTALLY AWESOME. There are some beautiful and thought-provoking things burried in these sites, so start digging!
Alison's site has an open-blog where all her friends chat it up. The discussion is pretty lively! Also, Alison's boyfriend (and my good friend) Paul has a corner of her site to call his own!
Gabe quit his job, sold all his stuff, crammed some clothes in a backpack and will be traveling all over the world for a year or so. Luckily for the rest of us, he's blogging it! Plenty of adventures and good pictures to check out here...
Jim is back from his travels in Asia and making music again! Check out his site for mp3s of his music, software and art!
Laura keeps a pretty darn good blog. She's got a knack for writing, which makes it a pleasure to read. She's living in Tuscon, AZ these days, keeping the Southwest under control.
Lindsay is one of my all time favorite people EVER. Through her website she shares some of her breathtaking photographs, drawings, stories and Comics with everyone. She spent two whole years teaching English in Japan, so there is a bunch of interesting stuff to check out on her site!
Although Mark is also the mastermind behind ModernThings.net this here is a link directly to his PERSONAL homepage. There are TONS of mp3s of Mark's great music as well as some other cool things tucked awy in various corners. You should also check out his blog about music and being a musician.
Aaron is a super-talented Comics artist. His big book "Spiral Bound" came out from Top Shelf in 2005. His site has a whole SLEW of Comics and drawings and illustrations and pictures that everyone should check out. It's inspiring stuff!
Ezra is a Comics artist friend I met while living in Portland, OR. You should check out his site, which has the coolest photo-comic I've EVER SEEN, ordering information and samples from his INCREDIBLE graphic novels "The Changers." Ezra is currently living in Chicago and working on his NEXT amazing book.
I couldn't find a for real picture of Josh -- but you get the point -- he's a Cartoonist! Josh draws a strip called "The Family Monster" and it is availble for online perusal at his site.
Nate is part artist / part robot. His site documents his life through journal Comics, writing, photos and beautiful illustrations. His OTHER SITE is the online home to his robot self. He designs webpages, writes code, programs things--he's incredible! He built the site you're looking at right now! (Not to mention a bunch of other, BETTER sites!)
These are friends of mine, whose websites have fallen by the wayside... These sites are not updated often, but still worth a link in my book!
Andy is another member of the ModernThings.net musical community and a good friend. His personal webpage has information about his current musical projects in L.A. and some links to his INCREDIBLE music.
Charlotte is currently working on her NEW SITE which should be up soon. So keep checking it out until something cool turns up!
UH... You never quite know what you are going to get over at Dan's site... but he's my friend dammit! So I'm giving him a link...
(aka Mark Hoffman) has finally unleashed his personal website! Contained within you will find all sorts of stories, images and music featuring his special brand of hillarity. Grizzo is one of a kind!
Hmmm... Jessie's site seems to have fallen by the wayside... but HOPEFULLY it'll be up again soon. She's a talented one that Jessie Marshall...
These are useful, informative and/or AWESOME sites that I frequently visit. YOU can check them out and now I can have a quick "bookmarks" folder that I can access from ANYWHERE. Mwa ha ha!
James Kochalka draws a 4 panel diary comic strip each day and then posts them on the internet. Yeah...
Craigslist is such an awesome resource. It's sort of like an online community center. You can use it to find roommates, sell stuff, find jobs, buy stuff, meet people, learn about cities, etc. etc. etc. ETC!
I am a horrible speller. I use this site ALL THE TIME. You can too! Stop killing lots and lots of trees to make dictionaries. Use the internet!
Drawn! is a blog that focuses on Illustration, Comics, Animation and drawings of all sorts. It is a really inspiring site! I check it every night for exposure to the many thousands of talented artists working all over the world today.
This is the companion website I built to go along with The Dvorak Zine. It's an incredible resource for learning Dvorak, with tons of helpful tips, tutorials and downloads. Check it out and start typing Dvorak. YEAH!!!
explodingdog is one of my favorite sites on the internet HANDS DOWN. Sam Brown makes drawings from your titles. Sometimes ironic and funny, other time heartbreaking and sad. Always rad though!
A composer's collective site set up by the incredibly talented Mark S. Willams (see above!). Tons of free music, links for the ModernThings internet radio stream and a busy forum where you can discuss any and every aspect of music and music-making!
This is where I get all my news about The Muppets. Some seriously hardcore fans run it. There is a lot of great info about the muppets burried in the site too.
National Public Radio rocks the house. This is where I get all my news. Check out their awesome PodCasts! Become a member!
It takes a certain kind of person to appreciate the humor of Pokey the Penguin. I suggest saving this link until you have an hour or so to read through a BUNCH of the comics. There is a certain ammount of inertia involved. If it hits you right though, you will be DYING from laughing so hard.
This is the website of Comics genius Scott McCloud (author of "Understanding Comics"). I read his blog everyday as it is often a great jump-off pad for the webcomics scene. He's pretty well tapped in.
The offical site for all things Star Wars (duh). I don't check this site as much now that Star Wars is OVER. But I still probably check it more than about 99.99% of the earth. Old habits die hard I guess...
The Onion is a fake newspaper that just makes fun of everything in the real news. It always manages to crack me up and is great mid-week when you need a pick-me-up!
This American Life is probably my all-time favorite radio program. I listen to it a lot when I am drawing my Comics. Everyone should check out their amazing archive of shows as free RealAudio streams! Each and every show has something worthwhile in it. SERIOUSLY.
Version Tracker is just about the best resource you could need if you own a mac. All sorts of free software and updates are linked here. I've solved A LOT of my computer problems by digging through this site.
The website of my all-time favorite band, WEEZER. It's run by Karl Koch, who is the official 5th member of the band. He keeps everyone up to date with what's going on with the band (tours, recording, upcoming releases, videos, etc. etc.) =w=
