Technically, this assignment was supposed to be based on Georgia O'Keefe's work. (??!) We were supposed to take a natural object and play with its scale (the way she took flowers and made them HUGE). We were also encouraged to work much larger than we usually do.
So I chose an image of an untamed WOLF (that's "natural" right???) And then did my best to draw it on the format in an O'Keefe manner (right up against all edges). Then I bought a big canvas.
I gotta say, this was probably the most fun I've ever had in painting class. I did it in Acrylic instead of Oil, which was SO much easier to work with. It dries quickly so I was able to go back into things much more easily. I painted this whole thing in like 2.5 hours! So I think I might be "done" with oil paint...
Next week my teacher encouraged me to paint another canvas, the exact same size, but with a dragon (BOO-YA!) So it'll be a battle to the death, though I might have to do a baby dragon, to keep the scale the same.
Fun!
